Business mentoring

Experienced members paired with founders and growing businesses on a defined brief, for a defined period, with a review date agreed at the start.

Business mentoring in progress

What this programme is

CIBET business mentoring pairs a member with an experienced mentor on one specific question. Both parties agree a written brief covering the objective, meeting cadence and end date before the first meeting.

Why the brief matters

  • Open-ended mentoring arrangements lapse quietly, and neither party wants to say so.
  • A written brief makes the objective explicit, so both sides can tell whether it was met.
  • An end date allows the relationship to conclude well, and to be renewed deliberately rather than by default.

How pairing works

  • You state the question you want help with, not the general area.
  • The Secretariat proposes a mentor whose experience matches that question.
  • Both parties confirm the brief in writing before the first meeting.
  • A review at the agreed point decides whether to close or extend.

What members get out of it

A route into mentoring others once you are established
