Member success stories

Accounts of what CIBET members have built, entered or changed — written with the member, approved by them, and published with a named author and a date.

A success story is not a testimonial. A testimonial is an opinion about membership; a success story is a record of what a member did, what it took, and where the Council played a part. Where CIBET's contribution was small, the story says so.

How a success story is written

Stories are researched with the member, drafted by a named author, checked with the member for factual accuracy, and published only once the member has approved the final text in writing.

  1. Nomination. A member is nominated by their chapter, their council, or themselves.
  2. Interview. The Secretariat interviews the member and, where relevant, a counterpart who can corroborate the account.
  3. Draft. A named author writes the story. Claims that cannot be evidenced are removed rather than softened.
  4. Member approval. The member reviews the draft for factual accuracy and confirms approval in writing.
  5. Publication. The story is published with the author's name, the publication date and, where the story is later revisited, a review date.

Figures quoted in a story are the member's own, attributed to them, and described as such. CIBET does not claim credit for outcomes it did not contribute to.

Suggest a story

Members and chapters can nominate a story at any time by contacting the Secretariat.

Nominations should say what the member did, roughly when, and who could corroborate it. Contact the Secretariat to nominate, or speak to your chapter lead.
